The Dawn Service — what to expect
The night at the ANZAC Commemorative Site is long, cold and deeply memorable. A little preparation makes all the difference.
● Registration: every guest must register through the Australian or New Zealand government's official ANZAC Day Gallipoli. (https://www.dva.gov.au/media/media-backgrounders/anzac-day)
process once it opens. We send the link and help each guest complete it.
● Passports: carry your passport — it is checked at security together with your registration.
● Overnight outdoors: temperatures by the water can drop to 5–8 °C. Bring thermal layers, a warm jacket, beanie, gloves, a rain poncho and a light blanket or mat.
● Bags: one small daypack only; bags are screened. Alcohol, glass, large bags and camping chairs are not permitted.
● Walking: about 3 km uphill from Anzac Cove to Lone Pine, and a further 3 km to Chunuk Bair — sturdy shoes are essential.
● Coach access: vehicles enter on a permit and timed system set by the Turkish authorities. Your guide manages it, so the group stays together throughout.
● Medals: guests are welcome to wear a family member's medals on the right side of the chest.
Programme times are confirmed by the organising governments closer to the date and may change for security or weather reasons.
